Tests the energy efficiency of ground-source heat pump systems in Wuhan. Discusses the coefficient of performance (COP) of heat pump units, the energy efficiency ratio (EER) of the system, and the energy saving, environmental and economic benefits of different heat pump systems. Concludes that the actual average EER is 3.39 under cooling conditions in Wuhan, 13.0% higher than the limit of energy efficiency, while the actual average EER is 3.29 under heating conditions, 26.5% higher than the limit of energy efficiency; that the actual average COP and EER of the underground water-source heat pump system are higher than those of the ground-source heat pump system with ground heat exchanger; and that compared to the ground-source heat pump system with ground heat exchanger, the underground water-source heat pump system has better energy saving, environmental and economic benefits.
